Crochet Tutorial: Woven Dreams Baby Blanket

This “Woven Dreams Baby Blanket” is my latest design using the newest addition of Red Heart Yarns Soft Essentials in Jungle Stripes and Minty. This fabulous fiber has a thick plush texture and works up beautifully to create this stunning piece!

This yarn is so soft and plush. It’s perfect for making baby blankets. You can continue this pattern to make this blanket larger. I pieced this blanket together with 7 inch squares using front-post and back-post stitches to create a woven look which is a little different than the well-known basket weave stitch. I made a checkerboard design using alternating yarns. I bordered this blanket with a criss-cross stitch.

  4. your pic caught my eye while searching for something else…perfect for my boys who are now living in the mountains (and yes those blocks look like earth, field, mountain, cloud & sky to me…absolutely beautiful) did you manipulate the yarn for that?
