I was browsing through Instagram, and I came across a fun living-room set up that was decorated in shades of grey and white. There were a lot of yarn accents including a collection of throw pillows throughout the room. Several were fun knit or crochet looking patterns that really caught my eye. It really started to give me some inspiration.
Some of you may recall, last Halloween, Nate and I wore cosplay costumes inspired by Willy Wonka. Part of the set up we had included the Candy Swirl Pillows. Today, after seeing all the fun ways to dress up a room with throw pillows, I decided to embellish my already existing pillows with some poms to give them a little fun boho flair! This is the Candy Swirl Pillow Remix! Simply put, I took an old pillow, with a little bit of tweaking, I made it new again! How fun it is to add a small detail and change the look of this project!
Here is a step by step photo tutorial of how I made my poms.
I received this cute pom maker from pommaker.com, so I am using that today. You can click the first photo below to shop for these fabulous pom makers!
First I wrapped the yarn around each of the wooden pieces (there are instructions in the pom making kit to walk you through)
Then I cut the yarn.
Once they are both wrapped and cut, I put the outer pieces on the spokes of the inner wooden pieces.
Then I squeezed with one hand, and cut the strands down the middle with my other hand.
That’s what it looks like when all the pieces are cut! I had to be sure not to let go of it at this point!
Then I took a long strand of yarn and tied a few knots around the center of these little strands, as you can see in the photo below.
Then I popped off all the pieces and a pom was made!!
I trimmed any longer strands to make it a perfect pom!
Here is the pillow I made and added poms to the outer edge!

There are a variety of fiber textures that I used to create this eclectic boho-inspired poncho! I decided to create this free-flowing Patchouli Poncho that just begs you to get outdoors on a beautiful day and feel the sunshine pour down upon you! I used my Sublime Light Granny Square from the 365 Days of Granny Squares for the border design, and it was just the right touch for this avant-garde piece! This project is coming to you just in time for the holidays! Get ready to make one for yourself or for someone you love!

When you think of boho-style fashion, what comes to mind? Most people might immediately think of bare feet with bell bottom jeans and funky headbands. Although one can incorporate those two fashion pieces tastefully into a modern boho outfit, things have come a long way in modern times! Yes, we draw inspiration from the early era of the flower child and beatnik, as those fashion concepts from the 1960s have inspired the modern spin on today’s boho-fashion trends, today we have added a new flair to this look.
Crochet has long been a part of the boho scene. My Arrows and Fringe Boho Fashion Scarf takes this old idea and brings it to new life! Arrows and Fringe are all the rage in this latest fashion arena and I have them both in this one fabulous piece! You can make this scarf very easily, just in time for the cold days ahead. It will stop people in their tracks with the bold and beautiful look that this scarf flaunts!
I used the delicious Chic Sheep Yarn by The Marly Bird! As part of her Designer Blog Tour, I jumped at the chance to use more of this amazing Merino wool fiber. I know what you are thinking. “Red Heart Yarns cannot simply have a desirable wool yarn that is soft and worthy of high end pieces”. STOP.RIGHT.THERE. Back ‘er up! Erase those thoughts immediately! Haha! I am here to tell you that you cannot go wrong with this luxurious fiber! It is drool worthy! Don’t take my word for it?? Order a skein on redheart.com or go over to your nearest Hobby Lobby stores and go feel for yourself! You won’t believe the magic at your fingertips! Come on, do it! We all know you like to squeeze that yarn! (Confession: My name is Nadia and I am a yarn squeezer. There, I admit it! That wasn’t so hard.)
Chic Sheep Yarn has fast become a favorite go-to for some of my nicer fashion pieces for myself and for the home! I used this in my Colorful Visions Afghan and trust me, there is not another piece that has equaled the amount of swooning that my friends and family have done as they have on this afghan! It is one of those blankets so comfy, you want to curl underneath and momentarily forget the world…in fact I might have done that a time or two…or three. I also made the Winter Chic Slippers with this yarn, and let me tell you, those are some of the most comfortable slippers I have ever worn!
I had the joy of meeting Marly Bird at Stitches Midwest, and it truly was a highlight of that weekend. Finally meeting her and getting to know her has been such a thrill. I can tell you that she puts so much love and enthusiasm into everything she does that her brand is no exception. Her color choices are eye-popping, the softness is fantastic, and her product is comparable to other brands that can run three times the price!
So now that you are convinced, go grab your Chic Sheep Yarn today and join me on making the Arrows and Fringe Boho Fashion Scarf!

June marks the official start of the summer season here in the northern hemisphere. It is the month when I get geared up to create a lot of fun-in-the-sun crochet patterns that are perfect for this time of year. Here is a pattern to launch that collection of great summer designs!
My Pom Poms and Pineapples Beach Poncho will have you feeling ALL KINDS of SUMMER VIBES! Seriously, this is one of the most delightful fashion pieces I have ever designed!! With a plethora of stitches, this creative piece will make the perfect swimsuit cover-up!! Picture yourself at the pool or sinking your feet in the sandy beach, sporting this adorable cover-up over your fun and sassy swimwear!! This is the picture-perfect piece to wear anytime all season long!
Made with Scrubby Smoothie Cotton by Red Heart Yarns, this project will be a sure-fire hit as you head to the water! Go from sea, sun, and sand by day, pairing this over your swimsuit, and wear it into the evening with a cute summer sundress or tank-top and capris for those summer nights! You can’t go wrong with this fabulous poncho no matter which way you wear it! I LOVE mine and you will too!
This is one pattern you won’t want to miss!!! A fun tip: add a few tacking stitches under the arms to create sleeves and turn this awesome poncho into a cute summer top! Now, go grab your hooks, your fave cotton yarn (here is my latest obsession) and let’s get started! The sooner you begin, the quicker you can head to the beach! See you there! Be sure to post your photos of this wonderful project and hashtag #YARNutopia! I can’t wait to see those beach pictures!

Make Tassels and flowers and then add them to the ends of the scarf (See video tutorial for visual instructions). Fray out the yarn and assemble the flowers accordingly. (I put 3 flowers on each tassel)

In summer, we are surrounded by bright color and full blooms that inspire creativity. My Blooming Daydreams Throw Pillow is a menagerie of hues and texture used to create this whimsical cushion. Perfect for a blast of life and color to any room of your home. Change the palette for your decor when you make your very own, or make this as a gift for someone you love!
With interior design leaning toward bohemian inspired decor, this floral accent pillow brings a nice vibe of color to a neutral room. It can offset plain walls of an apartment, and accented with some earthy plants, it can give a fun yet laid back ambiance.
You can toss this pillow on a bed and pair it with some fun throws. It can spruce up a drab bedroom! Don’t want to make a throw pillow? Make more than one of these squares to make a matching blanket!!
The backside of this pillow is a plain solid granny square, you can use that side and make a simple pillow without any floral design, just make 2 of the same square and sew them together and stuff a pillow form inside!

NOTES:
-You can use a smaller or larger hook to make this square depending on your tension. I wouldn’t use anything larger than an I-5.5mm Crochet Hook though.
-The finished square measures 16 inches, but you can stop at any round to make this smaller, or you can continue on to make it larger just repeating the last few rounds.
-This square is worked from the center outward and then small appliques are made to sew on (the appliques are optional)
-This project used about 600 yards of yarn
-The backside of the pillow was a solid granny square type of square, but you can make rows or any other backing to make yours the way you want.
-You could make a bunch of these squares and make a throw blanket and then make the pillow as a matching set!
