-You can use any size 4 medium, worsted weight yarn for this project
-You can check out yarnsub.com to see yarn substitutions that are equal to the yarn I used in this project.
-There is no video tutorial for this pattern yet.
-To make this hat smaller, I would recommend leaving off the last round of the square and sewing the squares together after round 3 of the squares are done. OR you could use a smaller crochet hook to make the stitching tighter and smaller.

Ch(s): chain(s)
YO: Yarn Over
St(s): Stitch(es)
Sl st: slip stitch
SK: Skip

Make 5 of the squares

Start with a Magic Circle OR Ch 3

Rnd 2: Attach yarn to any stitch, Ch 2, 3 DC cluster in same st, * Ch 2, 3 DC cluster in next st, repeat from * around ending with Ch 2, Sl st to first st, fasten off, change color. (12)

Rnd 3: In any Ch sp, Ch 2, [3DC, Ch 2, 3 DC] in same sp, * Ch 1, 3 DC in next ch sp, Ch 1, 3 DC in next ch sp, Ch 1, [3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC] in next ch sp, repeat from * around, sl st to first st, fasten off, change color.

Make sure to make 5 squares, then sew them all together with 1 square in the middle and 1 square on each side of the middle square, then sew down the sides to make a bucket hat shape. Sew with the Whip Stitch using a contrasting color for the sewing.

Brim:

Attach yarn to a RIGHT corner ch 2 sp of any square on the edge to start the brim.

Ch 2 (does not count as stitch)

Rnd 1: 3 DC in same sp, * Ch 1, 3 DC in next ch sp, repeat from * around, sl st to first st, Ch 2, do not turn.

FREE Crochet Video Tutorial: Evergreen Ski Hat

FREE Crochet Video Tutorial: Evergreen Ski Hat

Nasir has been growing and changing SO MUCH! Therapy has been working wonders, and in the past several months, he has found so many new words and skills.

The holidays went pretty well, and he had a lot of fun participating in all the activities. Because of his high energy, we decided to outfit him with some snowboarding gear, and Nate took him out for a trial run. He loves it!

It was the inspiration for the Evergreen Ski Hat. I’m so excited for my guys to be matching up both in fashion and in fun!! I used Brava Yarn in Dublin green. The perfect color for my Irish husband! You can make this for anyone! The design is both feminine and masculine and adding a pom or different color can make this customizable for you or someone you love. It’s a great beanie design that I know you will want to make now! Here’s my free pattern!

Crochet Tutorial: Mini Square Infant Hat

Crochet Tutorial: Mini Square Infant Hat

I’ve decided to dedicate this next week to all things BABY! To start this project, and the ensemble set, I’m making an infant hat first. In keeping with the Granny Square theme (See 365 Days of Granny Squares project), I’ve created this cute little cap that is sure to keep your precious bundle warm.

Continue to follow this series as I will be making booties, a dress, and a security blanket lovey for a very special baby.

Baby Hat

Here is a close-up photo of what the hat looks like:

Crochet Tutorial: Ribbon and Bow Hat

I had a request to make a baby girl hat in red and white, and it had to have a BOW! I LOVE girly things, and I LOVE bows! This was the best combination for a quick and easy project that I could film a tutorial for! Seriously, this project is great for the beginner crocheter, but everybody can enjoy making this adorable hat!

Bowtastic!

I found this free pattern online at Classy Crochet, and I got some inspiration to make this hat. I did not follow the pattern completely, so if you follow along with my video it will be a little different than the written pattern. I used the hat shell pattern completely and it turned out great. However, I modified the bow using my own method. You can watch this video to make your bow bigger or smaller.

This hat would be perfect to give as a gift to any baby girl, for a baby shower gift, or even for your own little one! You can change out the bow and add a flower, you can leave it plain with just a stripe, or you could add your own embellishments!

In this video I demonstrate how to crochet a baby hat that will fit a 9-12 month old baby. If you want to make a smaller hat, use an H-5.00mm hook. If you want it larger, use a J-6.00mm hook.
