Front Panel:
With Black:
Ch 13 Row 1: HDC in 2nd Ch and in each ch across, Ch 1, Turn. (12 sts)
Rows 2-7: HDC in each st across, Ch 1, Turn. (12)
Row 8: 2 HDC in first st, HDC in each st until 1 st remains, put 2 HDC in last st, Ch 1, Turn. (14)
Rows 9-17: Repeat Row 8. (At the end of Row 17, you should have 32 sts across)
After Row 17, Change color to Yellow (do not fasten off black, you will pick up that color at Row 20)
Row 18: HDC across, Ch 1, Turn.
Row 19: HDC across, Pick up Black yarn from Row 17 and change color from yellow to black
Continue to Change color every 2 rows
Rows 20-43: HDC across, ch 1, Turn.
Fasten off when you have 7 of the yellow stripes, then turn your work around to the bottom again and work the back panel on the opposite end of the foundation row.
Back Panel:
Attach your black yarn to the first stitch on the foundation row of your front panel.

Before you know it, sweater weather will be upon us here in the northern hemisphere. I know it is hard to think about it on a balmy summer day, but as we have learned in previous years, time flies. Why not get ahead of the season with some awesome baby wear? I made this Offbeat Baby Cardigan for Nasir, and it turned out so sweet!! Even though it is way too hot to be dressed in this sweater today, my sweet boy still modeled it like a champ!
Using an eclectic mix of thick and thin striping, this mismatched pattern makes a striking cardigan that is a compliment to any baby wardrobe. I made this one using Brava Yarn by WeCrochet (KnitPicks) in the colors Asphalt Heather and Denim. This combo works so nicely for Nas, but it can be done in any combination of color. And don’t worry if the stripes throw you off, you can follow along without changing colors and make this solid or use only the elements you like to make it your own. Be sure to share your photos with me when you finish!!

A very close friend of mine recently had a baby. With Aran (main color)
Ch 124 or any even number that you want the width of your blanket to be.

If you want it bigger or smaller, just do an odd number of rows before fastening off.

Attach yarn to a corner of the blanket. Do this concept all around, then Sl st to first St.

This Sweet Dream Romper has been designed to be part of our Halloween costume. I am planning to release pieces of this ensemble from now through mid-October. Each piece will complete our three cosplay costumes that we designed for “Where The Wild Things Are,” a book by Maurice Sendak. Nasir is going to be Max. Here is the first installment to his costume. This one-piece romper , although made for this purpose, was actually designed with versatility in mind. I considered the other possibilities this could be used for. This could be added to a winter baby layette set. You could change the buttons or eliminate them, make it in any color, or sew on leather knee patches for when a baby crawls.

Each year, we try to find a fun and exciting costumes for Halloween, and I love to take you on this journey with me. As each piece of the costume is released, I will update my blog to bring more and more pieces to life. Be sure to follow along to see all these updates!
The first installment of this year’s Halloween costume, is this Sweet Dream Romper. Although my intent is to use this outfit for Nasir’s cosplay costume as Max from the book “Where The Wild Things Are,” you will be able to follow through my video tutorial to create one of your own as part of a baby layette. You can change the colors, add knee patches, use smaller buttons or eliminate the buttons altogether. The creative ideas with this fall & winter pattern are endless! One thing I think we can all agree on is that Nas will be the perfect Max. đ He’s already happy about it!

He arrived a little earlier than expected, and although nothing about his delivery was easy, in the end, holding him in our arms was so worth it! Oh. MY. Gosh. THE LOVE!
Nate and I are overwhelmed with joy and want to share our happiness with our online family community. As soon as I am feeling better, I will write a little more about this entire experience in detail!
So many people tried to tell us how this would feel. NOTHING compares to the real thing. NOTHING!! WE ARE SO IN LOVE WITH HIM!

Things we observed so far: He has his Daddyâs face and wavy dark hair, but he has Mommyâs nose and dimples. He has long fingers like Mommy but Daddyâs toes lol. As we continue to discover one another, we look forward to finding more of these amazing connections. It is the most profound feeling ever to meet this tiny human, see pieces of ourselves in him, and know that we made him!
Here’s a look at our baby’s nursery!! We’re expecting his arrival in June 2019 and here’s his new room! It’s a work-in-progress, but this is how far we’ve gotten on his “crib” so far!!
I tried a new project that is simple enough for the beginner and fun for the seasoned crocheter! The Star Ring Rattle is perfect for any baby nursery, gift, or layette!
My dad will continue to be the videographer, editor, and photographer for our videos when I move away.

I love to create matching layette sets when designing items for babies. I love the idea of a cute dress with matching accessories. Today, I have the second installment for the Happy Hearts Baby Dress. I designed a Vintage Style Baby Bonnet.
This sweet baby hat has similar ruffle detail as seen on the cap sleeves of the Happy Hearts Baby Dress. Using similar colors with this matching detail, this tiny bonnet is the perfect pairing for this sweet outfit.
With more pieces to come, this is the perfect set to start now and add to as the pieces become available! This will make a wonderful gift!

It has been quite a while, but I finally completed my latest infant fashion piece! My Happy Hearts Baby Dress is a lovely one piece cotton frock made with cotton yarn
This lovely dress has tiny popcorn stitch detail on the skirt creating two stacked hearts. The simple ruffle creates a cap sleeve on the bodice. I added a tiny ribbon accent to complete the piece. Each detail was carefully thought out to create this wonderful project.
Easy enough for all stages of crocheters, this infant attire will be a hit for everyone!! As a crochet artist you will love the simplicity of this design while making it, and the final product is sure to WOW the masses! Andddd, I can guarantee that any little baby will look adorable in this frock

I had the wonderful pleasure of spending a few days with my sweet nephew. On Saturday afternoon, he and I set out to work on creating a character out of his imagination. My nephew chose the colors and the features as well as giving him a name. Meet Fredrick the Misfit Monster! This darling amigurumi was born from the imagination of a very special 4 year old.
Frederick is huggable and silly. He has lost most of his teeth but 3, from eating lots of candy that he sneaks at night. He loves adventures, finds mischief and mayhem, yet loves to cuddle. He protects and scares away creatures in the closet and under the bed or behind curtains! He likes to read books and play games on the iPad. Fredrick is a best friend. This is a great project to involve children. They can choose colors and features, as well as giving their very own misfit monster a name and personality! This simple project is sure to delight any child!!

I read a quote the other day which said: Advice from a flamingo Wade into Life, Stand out in a crowd, Spend time with your flock, Find the right balance Show your true color, Keep your beak clean, And don’t forget to get your feet wet!!
So, with those sentiments, I bring you my Fun Feathered Flamingo Feet Baby Booties! Start out on the right foot, or in this case, the right feet with this great project! Flocks of love were put into making these tiny slippers that pack a big PINK punch!!
These booties are one of the most versatile patterns I have ever designed. Although these slippers were designed for a 6 month old baby, changing hook sizes can increase the size of the pattern for a bit older infant. But I don’t stop there, choose a basic slipper pattern and follow along on the crocodile stitch and add the other embellishments to make your slippers ANY size!! See tips in my Notes section below.
Along with Flamingos, I provide the written instructions to take this pattern from pink to white in these beautiful Sweet Swan Slippers!
I was doing some online shopping when I came across this pair of swan slippers. Here is where I found inspiration to create this lovely pair in crochet!!
Using these guidelines, branch out to make Ducks, Geese, Peacocks, Toucans, Parrots, Cockateils, Pelicans, or any other fun bird! The possibilities are endless! Rnd 2: 2 sc in 1st st from last row, 2 sc in next. Sc 7, hdc in next, 2hdc in each of the next 6 stitches, hdc in next, Sc 7, 2 sc in last 2 stitches. Do not join â (36 sts)

This pattern by Deb Richey is such a fun pattern to make! I forgot how adorable this bunny is! As it started to take shape, I remembered how lanky this creature is. What a fun stuffed toy for a little boy or girl during Easter!! This pattern took me a total of 10 hours to make.
Deb’s pattern is easy to follow and easy to read. In the end, it creates such an excellent piece. If you are looking for something fun to create this Easter, or any time of the year, this is a great project!  This would be lovely in a nursery, it would make a nice gift, or a fun companion for the little ones in your life. The overall size of this bunny measures 36 inches tall (92 cm).
Have fun making this bunny in time for the holiday! I sure did!

This sweet little fella will hop right into your heart this season! This Bunny Amigurumi in a Carrot Cocoon is a darling project and easy enough to have done in time to make it in those baskets this Easter! For those of you who love bunnies, this is a 10 on the adorable scale!!
When I was a little girl, my maternal grandma LOVED bunnies! I remember every Easter we would go to her house and she had a basket full of bunnies. I remember playing with them! Because of her, I developed a love for stuffed bunny rabbits and it has carried into my adulthood! It has inspired me to share it with all of you!!

You can’t go wrong with this ensemble!! Perfect for any baby on your gift giving list or any special baby event! Change up the colors for a boy or a girl! There’s definitely something to love in this set! These pieces can be made any time of year! Make one or make all four pieces below. An enormous amount of improvising was done in the creation of this princess dress that I made for my Halloween costume. Nate and I are attending a costume party this year and I was all set to make sure that this was created in time. But boy, did I underestimate how hard it would be to make this ensemble! In the process, I ran out of yarn, I had to frog my work a few times, and actually shed a few tears. The skirt wasn’t as voluminous as I hoped, but you know what, it doesn’t matter anymore! I finished it, and I am getting passed the flaws to appreciate the work that went into making this. Overall, it may not be exactly what I imagined, but once in awhile a project takes on a life of its own and still turns out alright!
This pattern is for the basic dress design. However, you can change color. Add or subtract embellishments or details to customize your own costume. Pick a princess you love and go for it! Whether it be yellow like the one in this tutorial or pink, blue, a blue top with yellow skirt, green. Modifying this for any character can bring your costume to life!
Once the shell of the costume was made and the side panels added, I used similar colored tulle to enhance the sides giving the skirt full scallop look. I sewed the tulle in the sides and tucked it in the center then secured the entire piece with a center rose. I used the medium size rose flower from my Floral Dream Crown pattern.
Using a corset style lace-up, I used ribbon to create a closure for the shirt. Simply tying it down the back creates this look.
I wrapped tulle around the shoulders of the top and using a couple stitches, I secured it into place. I added another rose in the center bust area to tie in this design with similar details as the skirt.
I finished the shell of my princess skirt in the photo below. It was still a work in progress as I planned to add details and volume. I had a revelation after trying it on for sizing, that by itself, the shell works nicely for a basic maxi skirt. After trying it on I was like, “I would totally wear the skirt like this!”

-The  pattern video tutorial starts at 8 minutes 14 seconds. The first 8 minutes are frequently asked questions and other information.
-You can use any cotton/acrylic/polyester yarn you want to use. As long as it’s a thinner and lighter weight yarn. Having so much yarn can result in a heavy skirt.
-This pattern is written for an adult size, but you can make it any size by chaining more or less. The top doesn’t have any multiple so you can chain as many as you need to in the beginning. The skirt is in a multiple of 14, so you can make your chain as big as you want as long as your count is in the multiple of 14. (I explain all this in the video if that is confusing)
-You can use a smaller or larger hook to make this smaller or bigger depending on your tension.
-For measurements and to learn how big mine turned out to be, watch the beginning of the video tutorial. For the top, I measure it as I go.
-This took me approximately 12 hours to complete fully.

Row 1: FDC 140 or any multiple of 14 that measures your hip measurement PLUS 6-10 extra inches.
Round 2: Form FDC round into a ring and slip stitch to the beginning FDC. (See video tutorial for visual instructions), ch up 2, DC in first 5 sts, *3 DC in next st, DC in next 5 sts, DC3TOG, DC in next 5 sts, repeat from * ending with DC3TOG.
Round 3: (See video tutorial for visual instructions at 20 minutes), Do not slip stitch to beginning, DC in first 5 sts, * 3DC in middle DC of 3DC grouping, DC in next 5 sts, DC3TOG, DC in next 5 sts, repeat from * around, do not slip stitch to beginning.
Continue working in continuous rounds.

You can make this as long or short as you want just repeating the continuous pattern. Go onto the next step when when you are satisfied with the length.
Round 66: Skip the next st, sl st into the next st, ch 1, sc in same st, sk 2 sts, 5 DC in next st (shell made), *sk 2 sts, sc in next st, shell in next st, repeat from * around, sl st to beginning sc. Fasten off.
Waistband:
Attach yarn on any st around waist. Ch up 4. (Counts as TR), TR in each st around, sl st to ch up 4. Fasten off.
Weave ribbon through the TR’s to tighten waist.
Half Circle Side Panels: Make 6
Ch 4, sl st to 4th ch from hook to form a ring. Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as DC here and throughout), 9 DC into ring, turn. (10) Row 2: Ch 3, DC in same st, 2 DC in each st across, turn. Weave ribbon down the back (Optional: You could seam up the back by sewing it closed or crocheting it closed)
Straps: Make 2 Row 1: FDC 42 or an amount that measures from the back of your shoulder to the front of the shoulder (See video tutorial for visual instructions) Row 2: Ch 2, DC across. Fasten off with long tail.
Sew to Top

Row 1: sc in 4th ch from hook (first ch 1 sp made). * Ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * to end.
