Crochet Tutorial: Vertical Striped Leg Warmers

This is part of our Halloween Costumes for 2018! As you can see in this photo, I incorporated these leg warmers in Nate’s costume, but you can use these for any time of the year and for yoga!!

Each year I try to create costumes more epic than the one’s before. This year will be AWESOME!
As I create a series of patterns, each one released leading up to Halloween, they reveal clues to what Nate and I plan to wear!
Here is the Vertical Stripe Leg Warmers. The colors and design of this first piece are the clues to what the costume will be. Any guesses?

Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver in Warm Brown and Aran
Size G-4.25mm crochet hook
Yarn Needle
Scissors

NOTES:
-These are worked in rows and then seamed together to make the leg holes. See the end of the video tutorial to learn how to make these smaller or bigger.
-These leg warmers are 14 inches long and about 12 inches around. You can add more stitches to make these longer, and add more rows to make them wider.

Special Stitches Used in this pattern:
Ch: chain
St: Stitch
Sl st: slip stitch
SC: Single Crochet
DC: Double Crochet
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet

Leg Warmer:
Ch 50 or any even number
Row 1: SC in 4th CH from hook, *Ch 1, sk 1 ch, SC in next ch, repeat from * across, end with SC in last ch. turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, SC in 1st ch sp, *Ch 1, SC in next ch sp, repeat from * across, SC in last ch sp (See video tutorial for visual instructions), Turn.

Rows 3-40: Repeat Row 2 changing color every 4 rows.
You can always make more rows to fit around your leg.
Fasten off with long tail for sewing.

Assembly: 
Sew the seam up the leg warmer and fasten off.
Weave in all ends.

Top Cuff:
SC 42 sts around one side of the leg warmer.

Bottom Cuff:
Rnd 1: Ch 2, DC 36 stitches evenly around, sl st to first DC. (36 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, FPDC the first 2 sts together, [BPDC on next st, FPDC on next st] alternate these 2 sts until you are halfway around, FPDC 2 sts together, [BPDC on next st, FPDC on next st] alternate these 2 sts until the end of the round, sl st to first FPDC st. (34 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, FPDC on first st, *BPDC on next st, FPDC on next st, repeat from * around, sl st to first st.

Fasten off, weave in all ends.  Enjoy!

Round 3: With Aran, Enrelac Stitch around starting at the peak of a diamond from the previous round. (See video tutorial for this part), Sl st to first st, Fasten off
