Crochet Tutorial: Pommin’ Around Cowl

Crochet Tutorial: Pommin’ Around Cowl

Although winter will officially end next month, Wisconsin weather is very temperamental. We see snow even as late as May. As I plan out my future projects, I decided to add a quick cowl to the mix. This Pommin’ Around Cowl is an easy repeat pattern using Grit Stitch. The pom detail on the one border adds a touch of fun and whimsy to this simple design. Perfect for the beginner to advanced crocheter!

The tradition continues with my annual Punny Valentine’s. Each year, I create these silly sentiments using crochet and puns. I try to be as creative and amusing as possible. You can check out 2017’s Punny Valentine’s here and my 2016’s Punny Valentine’s here! Do you have a fun pun to share? Let me know in the comments section. Crochet Tutorial: Fortune Cookie

Crochet Tutorial: Fortune Cookie

If I had a nickel for every pun I had to come up with, I would have plenty of *dough* and be worth a *fortune*! I’ve had pretty *good luck* these past two weeks, I would say. I am feeling like a smart *cookie* coming up with these clever captions! Some may think I am a bit of a *weir-dough* to keep coming up with puns for so long, but it is just the way the *cookie crumbles*! I do it every year and it’s become my thing. Besides, I do it for Nate. Because together, we are a *batch* made in heaven and we are very *fortunate* to have that! Now I better get to writing the pattern and post the blog for the Fortune Cookie Amigurumi before I *delete all my cookies* and have to start all over! I’m a *tough cookie* and could do that, but I wouldn’t want to! (Scroll down for written instructions)

Crochet Tutorial: Simple Basket

Crochet Tutorial: Simple Basket

I’m *vine-ally* coming to the last few days of puns! I’ve been a *basket-case* trying to think of great ideas that are *ex-straw-dinary* and fun. I know some of you can’t *container* feelings about what you think. Some think they are *unbe-weave-able*, others think they are pretty *rattan*! I have been a bit *bamboo-zled* over the response! With so much on my *plait* right now, a *wicker* woman might give up and quit these puns. Not me! I would be in a *bushel* of trouble! Doing 14 projects in 14 day isn’t easy, but I am someone who *sticks* with it! These projects and puns are a tradition and this tradition has become *woven* in my heart because these are all for Nate to *reed* and crocheters to enjoy! Once these are over, however, I plan to *braid* around and celebrate that I *willow*-nly have the wedding to *carry* out! Yayyy! Stay tuned for the Mini Basket tutorial! It will be up on the blog later today-just in time for Easter!

Crochet Tutorial: Shamrock Appliqué

I am trying not to *press my luck*, but I do like to press the boundaries of these puns! Hey, I’m a *clover*, not a fighter! And I don’t fight against or *tre-foil*-ing the flow of creativity that comes to my mind. So I go all in, sometimes getting a bit *clover-whelmed* with pun overload! I feel pretty *lucky* and *be-leaf* that many of you enjoy my *clover-ness*. These are *magically delicious* ideas that somehow *plant* themselves in my brain. That reminds me, it is time to *shamrock* and roll and get this on my blog! Pretty *clover* how I got that last pun in, right? That’s why I’m here, to *shamrock* your crochet world! (Not trying to make you *green* with envy, but I am pretty good at making these puns up.)

Crochet Tutorial: Pickle Amigurumi

Crochet Tutorial: Pickle Amigurumi

It’s kind of a big *dill* to come up with these little projects and matching puns each day. I am *gherkin* round the clock to keep these going for two weeks. When I find myself in a bit of a *pickle*, and it’s *crunch* time to post, I try to stay as *cool as a cucumber* so I can get this all done in time. I *relish* the feeling of a successful project that I worked *dill-igently* to complete. I love to have the punny caption to match. It’s *Vlasic* Nadia. This is the real *dill*! Even with *dilling* with so many wedding details, I love the puns I have *pickled* and made so far! So what’s the *dill* yo? Do you have a favorite?

Crochet Tutorial: Watermelon Scrubby

Crochet Tutorial: Watermelon Scrubby

Thanks a *melon* everyone, for indulging me with these puns!! These are my love letters for MY Valentine! As Nate and I pre*pear* 🍐 for our wedding next month, all I *peel* is happiness. We do our *berry* best to handle all the wonderful chaos coming our way. But with that, comes a bit of stress. Sometimes when I feel a tad *melon-choly* I think *honey dew* you want to just run away? Nate might say, “Haha, *Orange* you cute? 🍊 Sorry, but we *cantaloupe*.” He really is a *peach*! We do make the perfect *pear*, and he truly is my one in a *melon*. He holds the *kiwi* to my heart! 🥝 During all this planning crochet has been MY escape from all the *fruitiness*! It’s *plum-believable* how much I enjoy a crochet respite and making up these silly puns along the way. This easy peasy *lemon squeezy* 🍋 Melon Scrubby 🍉 has helped keep me from going *bananas*! *Lime* sure a few of you are even *raisin* your eyebrows at how far I can take these play on words and correlate it to my projects! It’s not easy, but I’m *grape-ful* 🍇 to all of you that stuck it out until the end of this *cherry* 🍒 bad stream of fruit puns.

Crochet Tutorial: Open Heart Cup Cozy

Crochet Tutorial: Open Heart Cup Cozy

Oh, it’s after 8am! Sorry I just had a little *hic-cup* this morning, but here’s today’s pun! Better *latte* than never! So we are halfway through our Valentine’s Day puns! *Cool Beans* you guys! Words can’t *espresso* how much it *beans* to me to share this *creativi-tea* with all of you! I *mug* continue to be motivated and finish out this stretch! Today’s project is an exercise in *simplici-tea*–here’s my Open Heart Cup Cozy. I had a different idea when I started (I frogged it) but I always say “if at first you don’t succeed, *chai, chai* again.” This project is great way to tell teachers, colleagues, and friends how *tea-riffic* they are! Add some special *blends* and give the gift of *tranquili-tea* to someone you care about! Not sure if you want to try this? I say go ahead and *brew* it! The Open Heart Cup Cozy will be on the blog later today. Now I think I might go crochet and listen to some Fleetwood *Mac-chiato*. Ok, too far…😂😂 *Cough-ee* #sorrynotsorry Doing this for y’all is like living la vida *mocha*. Seriously, I’m done now.

Crochet Tutorial: Ghost Amigurumi

Crochet Tutorial: Ghost Amigurumi

How is everyone on this *boo-tiful* day? For some time, before I release these Punny Valentine projects, I spend a *spooky* amount of time *haunting* around for ideas. A lot of the ideas get the *boo-t*. That whole “what *ghost* up must come down” happens with a lot with my ideas. I get excited for some, and then some fall flat! Many take *float* in my mind and are a *scream*! You can *scare* up inspiration from anywhere and make it a pun. Some things won’t have a *ghost* of a chance, but it *ghost* to show you that many things can!

Crochet Tutorial: Poppy Flower

Crochet Tutorial: Poppy Flower

When I *rose* up this morning, I thought to myself, oopsie *daisy* I am not prepared for my post today! I was like, “What in *carnation* do I write about in today’s puns?” I would be *pollen* your leg if I told you that I was prepared for today’s punny caption about flowers! I was hoping to have someone *plant* an idea for me so this would not be so difficult. But boy, was this tough! *Bunches* of times I felt like I could not *cultivate* a good idea. But then a *seed* in my mind started to *grow and grow*. Before you know it, I began *rootin’* for myself to finish this great idea! And here it is! I am hoping *thistle* bring cheer to all my *buds*! Happy Sunday!

Crochet Tutorial: Acorn Amigurumi

It might be *acorn-y* way to start out your Saturday morning, but I am trying to show you *nuttin* but love with my Valentine Puns! Honestly, there’s *nut* much better than starting the weekend with a bit of humor! *Oak-ay, oak-ay*! It’s *nut* my fault if some of these get a little cringe-y! Well, it is, but, I’m trying hard to keep you *crackin* up! That’s not easy! I know I can’t be the only *squirrel* in the world who loves these silly jokes. But that’s me in a *nutshell*. Silly. Anyway, In *cashew* were wondering, when I started these 14 days of puns, I promised myself I *walnut* fail. I know it *pecan* as something small but now *almond* fire and still *droppin* em! Stay tuned for more to come!
