365 Days of Granny Squares

In this section of my blog, you will find links to 365 Days of Granny Square tutorials that I will be releasing over the course of a year. I know it’s a leap year this year, and you may find a bonus video in here somewhere. Ha!

Below, you will find a thumbnail photo of each granny square. If you click the image, it will take you to the video tutorial. Not all links will have written patterns since these are all very simple small projects. All squares will be roughly around the same size so they can be sewn together and attached at the end of the year. These squares do not have specific names.

I change color frequently on my rounds of the granny squares, but you can make yours solid or change colors as much as you’d like. This is a scrap yarn project.

There are a variety of sizes in the squares, they are not all the same size. Some may come out a little bigger or a little smaller. You may do whatever you’d like with these squares, but soon I will be showing how to attach the squares for you to make fun things. You can make bags, bedspreads, baby blankets, lap blankets, coasters, etc. An afghan (lap blanket) will take approximately 80 squares. A baby blanket may take approximately 64 squares.

I have segmented this series by months of the year. Check back to this page often, as I will be adding a new one every day!

I came across this great blog earlier this year written by Confessions of a Yarn-a-holic. It’s about the history of the Granny Square, and it ties into our 365 Day project. Just a short interesting tidbit of some random knowledge. It gives you a background on the historic roots that Granny Squares have.
