
This Penguin Ornament is our twelfth and last pattern in the 12 Days of Christmas Ornament collection! This is such a cute little crocheted gift to adorn your tree or use it instead of a bow on a package for anyone on your gift giving list!

Materials you will need:
–Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in any colors you want. I used Black, White, and Carrot
–F-3.75mm Crochet Hook
–Stuffing
–Yarn Needle
–Scissors
NOTES:
-Use a larger hook to make this larger.
-This ornament measures approximately 3 inches tall and 4 inches wide
-This penguin is worked from the top down
-Work in the BLO throughout the pattern (for the head/body/wings)
-See video tutorial on how to tie off the color changes on the inside of the penguin
-Turn inside out and cut/tie ends all together throughout the pattern
Special stitches:
Ch(s): chain(s)
YO: Yarn Over
BLO: Back Loop Only
St(s): Stitch(es)
Sl st: slip stitch
SK: Skip
SC: Single Crochet
HDC: Half Double Crochet
DC: Double Crochet

Work in BLO throughout this pattern
Work in Continuous rounds
Start With Black Ch 2
Rnd 1: 6 SC in 2nd Ch from hook. (6)
Rnd 2: 2 SC in each st around. (12) Change to White Yarn
Rnd 3: [2SC in next st, SC in next st] 2 times, change to black yarn, [2SC in next st, SC in next st] 4 times. (18)
Rnds 4-6: Change to white yarn, SC in the first 6 sts, Change to black yarn, SC in last 12 sts. (18)
Rnd 7: Change to White yarn, [SC2TOG, SC in next st] 2 times, change to black yarn, [SC2TOG, SC in next st] 4 times. (12)
Rnd 8: Change to White Yarn, [2SC in next st, SC in next st] 2 times, change to black yarn, [2SC in next st, SC in next st] 4 times. (18)
Rnd 9: Change to White Yarn, [2 SC in next st, SC in next 2 sts] 2 times, change to black yarn, [2 SC in next st, SC in next 2 sts] 4 times. (24)
Rnd 10: Change to White Yarn, [2 SC in next st, SC in next 3 sts] 2 times, change to black yarn, [ 2 SC in next st, SC in next 3 sts] 4 times. (30)
Assembly step:
Embroider eyes and beak to face. Use video tutorial for visual instructions.
Turn inside out and cut/tie ends all together.
Rnds 11-14: Change to white yarn, SC in first 10 sts, Change to black yarn, SC in last 20 sts. (30)
Rnd 15: Change to white yarn, [SC2TOG, SC in next 3 st] 2 times, change to black yarn, [SC2TOG, SC in next 3 sts] 4 times. (24)
Rnd 16: Do not change color, just continue with black for the last rounds, [SC2TOG, SC in next 2 sts] 6 times. (18)
Assembly Step:
Stuff the penguin before closing up the piece.
Rnd 17: [SC2TOG, SC in next st] 6 times. (12)
Rnd 18: [SC2TOG] 6 times. (6)
SC 1st and 4th sts together and fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Wings: Make 2
With Black
Work in Continuous Rounds and in the BLO
Ch 2
Rnd 1: 6 SC in 2nd ch from hook. (6)
Rnd 2: SC in each st around. (6)
Rnd 3: 2 SC in each st around. (12)
Rnds 4-7: SC in each st around. (12)
Fasten off with long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Sew wings to each side of Penguin ornament
Feet: Make 2
With Carrot
Ch 2
Row 1: 4 HDC in 2nd ch from hook. (4)
Fasten off with long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Sew feet to bottom of Penguin Ornament

Add string/ribbon to make it an ornament
Weave in all ends.
