Crochet Tutorial: Vertical Cable Stitch Cowl

Cable Crochet is always a big favorite for a variety of projects! In this cowl neck, I have done a vertical Cable stitch to complete this amazing infinity scarf. It doesn’t have to stop there! Once you have mastered this stitch, this would be a great pattern for an afghan, a baby blanket, or other projects where cable stitch would compliment your piece!

Crochet Tutorial: Bow Garland

Every once in a while I like to change things up from the “traditional” to a little bit of a “non-traditional” decor. This bow garland is the perfect way to make that change but still keep with a lovely touch during the holiday season. Using this garland, you can trim your tree, hang in a doorway, or swag it along a banister. This adds a lovely touch to the festive feel of your home this holiday.

I created mine in a multi-colored strand, but your creativity should know no bounds when creating your very own. A combination of red and green, silver and gold, or solid white would all be wonderful ways to display this garland for Christmas.

This project would also be great for a baby nursery or a party decoration! Have fun making yours!

Crochet Tutorial: Poinsettia

Crochet Tutorial: Poinsettia

Native to Central America, the poinsettia flower made its way to the United States in 1828. It was discovered in the wilderness of Southern Mexico by Dr. Joel Roberts Poinsett. He was the U.S. ambassador to Mexico at the time. People wonder, “what does a poinsettia have to do with Christmas?” One interpretation of the plant is that it symbolizes the star of Bethlehem, the heavenly body that led the three wise men to the place where Jesus was born.

Another Mexican legend tells of a small girl who only could offer weeds as a gift to Jesus on the night he was born. When she brought the weeds to Jesus as an offering, they blossomed into the plants as we know as poinsettias. These flowers are known as Flores de Noche Buena, which is Spanish for Flowers of the Holy Night.

Today, I have crocheted my very own version of this beautiful flower. It is perfect for adorning a tree, adding to a gift, or using as a decoration throughout the home. In this easy-to-follow tutorial, we create our very own for this holiday season.
